1- The basics: Vegetarian, plant-based or vegan?
A quick reminder to clarify the terms:
- Vegetarian: Does not eat animal flesh.
- Plant-based: Consumes no animal products whatsoever (no eggs, no dairy, no honey).

2- The material: Is silicone vegan?
From a composition standpoint, the answer is 100% YES.
La Cup Luneale is made from Platinum Medical-Grade Silicone.
Silicone is not an animal by-product. It is derived from

3- The uncomfortable question: Animal testing
Does Luneale test its products on rabbits? Absolutely not.
We are a French brand, and European regulations strictly prohibit animal
testing for cosmetic and hygiene products.
But there is a technical "however":
For a silicone to be certified "Medical Implantable" (meaning it is authorised to remain inside the
human body for more than 29 days, as with implants or menstrual cups), health authorities require absolute proof of safety.
The manufacturer of the raw material (the base silicone) was required, years ago, to carry out mandatory tests to obtain medical approval. This is the law, to guarantee human safety.

4- Why we don't hold a "Cruelty Free" label
We could pay to obtain certain "Vegan" labels that accept this historical nuance (past testing of the raw material). We meet their criteria.
However, we will never be able to hold the "Cruelty Free" label (the little rabbit), as its specifications are extremely strict and reject any ingredient that has ever been tested — even historically, for legally mandated medical reasons.
