You can use La Culotte for periods, spotting, vaginal discharge, as well as light to moderate urinary leaks.

The length of the absorbent area depends on the size of La Culotte:

• Sizes XS and S: 27 cm
• Size M: 28 cm
• Size L: 29 cm
• Sizes XL and 2XL: 30 cm
• Sizes 3XL and 4XL: 31.5 cm

We chose not to extend the absorbent area all the way to the waistband for several reasons:

• Menstrual underwear with absorbent areas that extend to the waist often overflow at the crotch before the top part even gets wet. We only bleed from the crotch, not the waist!
• If we were to offer a pair of underwear with a liner that extends all the way up, the price would be higher because the absorbent material we use is very expensive (more than 10 times more expensive than bamboo or eucalyptus microfiber).
• In fact, for particularly heavy flows, it’s better to add an extra layer of absorbent material rather than extending the area.
• The absorbent complex we use has a structure that allows it to distribute liquid (blood, discharge, urine) evenly across its entire surface.

We use a patented, truly exceptional absorbent complex, which to our knowledge, no other brand distributed in France has selected. This highly refined complex absorbs 10 times its weight in just 2 seconds and provides a dry sensation on the surface. Additionally, La Culotte Luneale is made in France from high-quality organic cotton.

Our absorbent complex incorporates DuPont’s SILVADUR™️ treatment, which is a silver ion-based treatment—not nanoparticles (which are problematic for both humans and the environment). This treatment inhibits bacterial growth on the surface and deep within the absorbent area, thereby reducing odors and fabric degradation. Fabrics treated with SILVADUR offer durable antimicrobial performance. They are non-toxic, non-bleaching, non-sensitizing, and non-irritating. They provide enhanced freshness and have been tested for effectiveness over 50 wash cycles, showing excellent microbial reduction rates of over 99%, even after 50 washes.

Clarification: The vaginal flora (i.e., inside the body) is made up mostly of beneficial bacteria essential for its balance. This is why antimicrobial treatments on a cup are a bad idea. However, on the vulva (the external part of your genital area), bacteria that develop once blood is exposed to air can be pathogenic. This is why the benefits of a true antimicrobial treatment on menstrual underwear are important, both for your health and for odor control. While “naturally antimicrobial” fabrics like bamboo microfiber slow down microbial growth, our treatment has a truly active effect.

Choose your usual bottom size: the design and materials used for La Culotte are highly stretchable, so it will remain comfortable.

If you’re between two sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller one.

If you typically fall between two of our sizes (for example, a 40-42), we recommend selecting the size that corresponds to the lower value (in this case, M / 38-40).

It all depends on whether you only use menstrual underwear or if you pair them with La Cup, for example. You can wear it for 8 to 12 hours straight, and you’ll need to factor in the time to wash it and let it air dry.

An “Entreprise Adaptée” (Adapted Company), like the one that makes La Culotte, is a regular business that employs a large proportion of people with disabilities (in our workshop, more than 80% of employees are disabled). These companies offer work conditions that are compatible or adapted to the employees’ disabilities, enabling them to lead normal lives.

Employees in an “Entreprise Adaptée” have standard employment contracts, governed by labor laws, and receive the same salary as able-bodied employees.

It’s important not to confuse “Entreprises Adaptées” with ESAT (French Workshops for Disabled Workers), which are institutions where people with disabilities live and are offered professional activities through work. People working in ESATs receive a guaranteed wage set by social and family law (between 55% and 110% of the minimum wage).
